Yoga

Before my 2017 injury I used to stretch every morning and loved it. It was a great way to start the day after a nights sleep.

Here are a few different types of Yoga;

  • Vinyasa Yoga (aka: Ashtanga yoga): this yoga is to increase strength and helps to build lean muscle mass throughout the body.

  • Hatha yoga: this yoga is practised at a slow pace, relaxed, as it focused on meditation.

  • Hot yoga: a particular form of this is Bikram Yoga, it’s a yoga that takes place is a hot humid room.

  • Kundalini yoga: also known as 'yoga of awareness'. In fact, this practice penetrates into your mind and has a strong spiritual tension

  • Restorative yoga: is a restful practice that holds yoga poses (asanas) for a longer duration using props like yoga blocks

After the injuries to my head and neck I struggled with lots of the power poses in Vinyasa yoga, basically anything that extended or stretched through my neck and shoulders. in a quick repetitive process. Also bending over and reaching up made me so dizzy and faint.

I went on a beautiful retreat and they introduced me to restorative yoga which is very gentle. I’ve since slowly been testing out different apps, classes and YouTubers.
