Meditation
It can be defined as; to engage in contemplation or reflection or; to engage in mental exercise for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness, or; to focus one’s thoughts.
Mediation for me is creating a quite, gentle space to connect back to myself. Initially I found it very difficult to concentrate and had to battle the thoughts of failure when I couldn’t focus the entire time. But over time it’s become a core component of my morning routine to help set my mindset for the day.
It’s helped me connect to my body, mind and spirit.
Helpful Apps
Over the years I’ve tried various platforms. I started with using the Calm App which helped give me a great grounding into meditation. I’ve also used Insight Timer and Balance. And I also use the YouTube channel Great Meditations.
Tips and Tricks
Try setting a routine so you do it each day (and don’t beat yourself up if you forget). For example I meditation first thing everyday.
Try different apps and meditation guides (there are plenty to choose from). You have to find the right fit for you.
Try not to get hung up on doing it perfectly. If you can only manage 1 minute on a certain day, then that’s great!
